Is the Summer a Good Time to Visit Colleges?
We hear this question often from both students and parents alike. Is summer a good time to be visiting colleges? Or will we not get the same experience because students are not on campus?
The Lotus Answer: Any time you have to visit colleges is a good time! The reality is that we are all busy and students are applying to more schools each year, some of which are quite far away from home. Getting to visit a college in person is better than not visiting it at all.
There are pros and cons to visiting colleges at all times of the year. In winter months, you risk bad weather and cancellations in several locations around the country. When students are on campus, you often have to miss school to visit or deal with crowded tours on limited break times. There’s never going to be a perfect time to visit, but seeing a school in person will help students determine if it is truly the right fit for them.
Lotus Pro Tip:
Many colleges are still operating under limited capacities from Covid. If you are planning to visit a school, make sure to reserve your information session and tour well in advance, especially if it is a popular period like spring break.
