Lotus Premier Education: Tips for Managing Stress this College Application Season
Prepare Early! One of our Lotus mantras is “Prepare Early, Prepare Better.” Preparing early doesn’t necessarily mean completing all of your applications before school begins, but it does mean creating a realistic timeline for when those applications will be completed.
Make time to self reflect. There are several parts of the college application process that ask students to be vulnerable and to share deeply. In order to know thyself, one must spend time with thyself! Carving out time to think about what you want to say is just as important as making the time to put it down on paper.
Balance what you’re focusing on! The common app essay, the supplements, the activities list, and demonstrated interest, as well as the other components of your application, all need your attention.
Don’t forget to thoroughly research your schools - especially before communicating with admissions officers or working on supplements.
Build your team early and carefully. Who is reviewing your applications? Who is writing your recommendation letters? Is everyone on board and do they know what needs to get done?
Find constructive ways to manage your stress. The best applications are completed with positive mindsets.
